ROLLER DERBY 101: FRESH MEAT BOOT CAMP
We are excited to hold the Fresh Meat Training Boot Camp to kick off our Roller Derby 101: Fresh Meat Training Program (Session II)! Our Roller Derby 101 (Session I) program has been a blast and we decided to add to the Fun! We are looking to gain players and referees through this program (women and men).
The Fresh Meat Training Boot Camp will start off with an orientation and be held at our practice facility (The Derby Dojo) on Saturday, March 29th.
Boot campers will be introduced to the fundamental roller derby skating skills that will be focused on in the Roller Derby 101 (Session II) program. The boot camp will give skaters an introduction to what being an Abilene Roller Derby member entails, along with the physical demands of our sport. Loaner gear is available first come, first serve (if you would like to know the best place to purchase gear of your own, don't hesitate to ask- you will need your own gear soon after becoming an ARD member).
Keep in mind, this boot camp is a kick off to our long-term training program. The training program will prepare you to make roster for our 2014 season, and mean you would have to be able to attend our weekly practices. The Roller Derby 101 (Session II) program will have one dedicated practice per week (Tuesdays 7-9 PM), but require attendance to at least one other practice per week.
